FES-PASSIA Conference on 50 Years of Occupation of the Palestinian Territories

On 3 May FES together with the Palestinian Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs (PASSIA) hosted a one-day conference in Jerusalem to mark 50 years of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Over the course of the day, different speakers from the worlds of politics and academia analyzed the political, social and economic consequences of the ongoing Israeli occupation and discussed prospects for the future. Among the speakers was Omar Shaban, Director of the Gaza-based PalThink, Dr. Nasser Al-Qudwa, Chairperson of the Yasser Arafat Foundation and member of Fatah’s Central Committee and Dr. Mahdi Abdul Hadi, Chairman of PASSIA. With four panel discussions covering both the internal and external impacts of the on-going occupation, the conference’s open format gave the audience the chance to interact with the panelists on the issues which will determine the shape and direction of Palestinian politics in the years to come.
