Nachdem einer von unserem Partner Women’s Affairs Technical Committee (WATC) getroffenen Vorauswahl, veranstaltete die FES Palästina gemeinsam mit WATC am 25. und 26. August 2017 die abschließende Auswahl-Konferenz für unsere Teilnehmer_innen der dritten Generation des „Young Leader“-Programmes in Ramallah.
Das Programm, welches sich verstärkt mit Führungskompetenzen, politischer Bildung und Verantwortung in der Gesellschaft beschäftigt, ist Teil eines Regionalprojektes, das auch von anderen FES-Büros in der arabischen Welt durchgeführt wird. Das Projekt richtet sich an politisch aktive und sozial engagierte Jugendliche aus Palästina, die durch das Programm ihre persönlichen Fähigkeiten und ihr Wissen vertiefen können. Zu den Zielen des Programms zählt es, den „Young Leaders“ das Konzept von Sozialdemokratie und Themen wie politische Partizipation, soziales Engagement und Geschlechtergerechtigkeit näher zu bringen. So werden die Teilnehmer_innen darin bestärkt, eine entscheidende Rolle in der Gesellschaft und in der sozialen und politischen Welt zu übernehmen.
Während der zweitägigen Konferenz hatten die 50 jungen Palästinenser_innen die Chance, ihre Motivation, ihr Wissen und ihre sozialen Kompetenzen in einer Reihe von Aufgaben, wie einem schriftlichen Test, einem persönlichen Gespräch und in Gruppendiskussionen unter Beweis zu stellen. Alle Aktivitäten wurden von einer externen und unabhängigen Jury beurteilt, die daraufhin eine Auswahl von 25 Teilnehmer_innen – aus ursprünglich 100 Bewerber_innen – empfahl. Das 18-monatige Programm beinhaltet unter anderem zwölf Workshops, in denen unsere Teilnehmer_innen an der Entwicklung ihrer persönlichen Fähigkeiten arbeiten und ihr Wissen zu verschiedenen Themen, die für Gerechtigkeit und Sozialdemokratie relevant sind, vertiefen können. Zusätzlich wird von den Jugendlichen erwartet, im Laufe des Programmes drei bis vier Initiativprojekte auf Grundlage des Gelernten ins Leben zu rufen.
