FES Palestine and WATC announced participants for the Young Leaders Generation III

After the pre-selection was carried out by our partner Women’s Affairs Technical Committee (WATC), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in cooperation with WATC completed the selection conference for our third generation of the Young Leaders Program on 25th and 26th of August 2017, in Ramallah.

The youth empowerment, leadership and education program is part of a regional project which is also implemented by other FES offices throughout the Arab world. The project targets politically active and socially engaged youths and aims at empowering their capacities and knowledge.

The main objective is to promote the concepts of social democracy, political participation, social support and gender justice in addition to enhancing the participation of young people in socio-political discourses. The program also invests in its participants personal skills enabling them to play a meaningful role in socio-political life.

Over the two-day selection conference 50 young Palestinians had the chance to demonstrate their motivation, knowledge and social skills in a series of activities including a written test, a personal interview, a variety of group based activities and a debate session. All activities were monitored by an external jury that recommended the selection of 25 participants out of initial 100 applicants who will now take part in the 18-months-long program.

The program includes a series of 12 workshops on topics of personal skills development and education on various topics related to justice and social democracy. Furthermore, our participants are expected to develop three to four initiative projects during their time in the Young Leaders program, based on what they dealt with and learned during the program.
