The Young Leaders Program: Professional Skill Development in Ramallah

On the 29th and 30th of June, the Young Leaders program hosted a workshop devoted to personal and professional skill development. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) together with its partner, the Women’s Affairs Technical Committee (WATC), organized the two-day event in the vibrant city of Ramallah.

In this workshop, the Young Leaders followed up with the topic of professional skill development and addressed difficulties in professional and academical application processes. Therefore, the Young Leaders focused on practical trainings to get more confident and prepared for the professional world.

The sessions were introduced with a welcome address by the organizers and a theoretical introduction on the objectives of the training by the trainer Deena Mssaed from Professional Sky for Development. In the first practical session on application processes the Young Leaders learned to define the most important contents of CV and practiced CV writing.

Building on this foundation, the group entered a workshop on the successful preparation for job interviews and the most important elements for a successful appearance in the interview. In the further course of the workshop, they critically asked themselves how important body language for a professional appearance is and tried to get aware of possible personal improvements.

These suggestions for improvements and newly learned skills were further strengthened and practiced in the simulation of job interviews. Apart from this, the Young Leaders lively discussed and worked on their ideas and concepts for socio-political initiatives they would like to implement in the Palestinian society for a more socio-democratic future.

Beyond the practical training sessions, the young people and their trainers visited an impressive show of the traditional Dabke dance by the El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup at the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit and visited the small and beautiful town of Jifna.
